BIO | BABE EVANS

Babe Evans, one of the entertainment industry’s most respected artist-activists, was born in San Diego, CA, and began her career there in theatre over four decades ago. Then at 19 she left for Los Angeles, and since then has been a stalwart fixture whether on stage, behind-the-curtains, on-screen or behind-the-camera...
Eventually, Ms. Evans would serve as the president of the Burbage Theatre Company. She was also the Artistic Director at the 4305 Village Theatre, where she produced several productions, including a play by revered playwright Ron Milner, with the legendary and honorary Tony Award winner, Woody King Jr., founder of the groundbreaking New Federal Theater. In addition, over several years, she served as the Assistant Director for the NAACP Theatre Awards. Ms. Evans also worked with world-renowned California African American Museum to help bring more awareness to the beautiful—and for many an artistically sacred—space, where she fostered many young minds as the producer of the Annual Children’s Book Festival. And she not only served on the board of the internationally distinguished Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, but as the Director of Education.
Despite being a demonstrated artistic and educational force beyond the stage, Ms. Evans will never let go of her acting roots in theatre. In fact, one of her most meaningful projects was her creative collaboration with curator, Kevin Spicer and the Highways Performance Space on a series of works commemorating the 50th anniversary of the lynching of Emmett Till, where she portrayed the mother of Emmett Till, Mamie Till-Mobley, in a riveting and heart-wrenching performance.
She's also worked in TV, such as her recurring role on the critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama, “LINCOLN HEIGHTS” (ABC Family/Freeform). In addition, she's held behind-the-camera roles, including being credited with casting for Badami Production’s African American Short Film series. Ms. Evans was also Production House Manager for the Al & Mo production of “M.O.I.S.T!” for several years—a position she's had the pleasure of doing for several award ceremonies.
She's is an active supporter of SGI, K.I.S. Sickle Cell Foundation and the Entertainment Community Fund.
Ms. Evans shared a 40-year, joyful marriage as the wife of acclaimed actor (and beloved scene "stealer"), Art Evans, who had roles in quite a few Oscar and Emmy-nominated/winning projects among his over 120 credits. She is also the proud mother of two young men—one on Earth and one in the Universe...
As a practicing Buddhist, Babe is dedicated to advocating Peace through individual happiness for the future of our children.
